0870 has changed
A major change has just happened to 0870 numbers.
These changes are as a result of a review of 0870 numbers by the UK Regulator Ofcom. The changes are designed to make non-geographic numbers simpler for consumers to understand.
This has generated many questions at industry level. This change was originally due Q1 of 2008. Industry and Ofcom have been in discussion about the change to the 0870 numbers and withdrawal of revenue share ever since.
Ofcom have now said that the change to the revenue share on 0870 numbers will come into effect August 2009.
What does this mean for you? The new regulation will cut the cost of calling 0870 numbers to the standard national rate. This regulation removes the existing revenue share option and means 0870 owners will have to pay for calls to these numbers.
Overline customers will pay 2.79 pence per minute for 0870 Inbound and Outbound calls. Other networks may vary.
We’re here to help. We want to ensure that you don't lose out through these 0870 changes, which will affect everyone who owns an 0870 number. We want to make the process easier and help you make the right choice for your business.
Act now, and you can ensure that you have the widest choice of numbers available and that you'll have plenty of time to let your customers know about the changes. It will also give you time to update your own marketing materials and programmes before the change takes place.
