The annual Best of British charity sporting lunch returns to The Grand Hotel in Brighton on Friday 31st May. Raising money for Rockinghorse, this year welcomes special guest speaker, the Double Olympic Decathlon Champion, Daley Thompson CBE, to the popular sold-out event.
Last year celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Best of British lunches in Brighton. In that time, the event has raised over £450,000 for local charities in Sussex. Since 2013, Rockinghorse children's charity has been the beneficiary of the sporting lunches, organised by the charity's CEO, Ryan Heal.
Last year's event raised an incredible £36,500 for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton to support Rockinghorse's appeal to fund a state-of-the-art digital X-ray imaging machine for the neonatal unit in Brighton.
The charity hopes to raise another substantial amount of money again this year to support its projects for sick and disadvantaged children in Sussex. Rockinghorse is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital and supports many children's centres and paediatric services across Sussex.
The charity has also pledged its support for young people with mental health illnesses in the county, partnering with Chalkhill Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit in Haywards Heath (the only hospital of its kind in Sussex).
